In July 2017, we completed an £8.4m funding round in Connection Therium No1 LLP. The vehicle will invest in a portfolio of litigation funding cases. Litigation funding is where a third party provides the financial resources to assist a claimant with expensive litigation or arbitration cases in return for an agreed share of the proceeds of any successful claim.
The vehicle is advised by Therium Capital Management, a leading commercial litigation funder who now advises £17 million of our clients’ capital following earlier investments in 2013 and 2016.
Therium deploys litigation funding across a range of industry sectors, from financial services to technology and energy, in areas such as intellectual property, anti-trust/ competition claims and international arbitration.
Returns from the asset class are completely uncorrelated with the markets and therefore can provide portfolio diversification.
